BRIAN LITTLE believes Wrexham have become more of an attacking threat and they aim to show that again tonight.
Wrexham go into their match against highflying Wycombe Wanderers at Adams Park tonight (7.45pm) having only been beaten once in nine outings.

Delighted to have become more solid in defence, Wrexham boss Little has adopted a 3-4-3 formation in recent matches and the Reds triumphed 2-0 at arch rivals Chester City on Sunday with strikers Paul Hall and Michael Proctor scoring the goals.

And although Wrexham remain the lowest scorers in the division, Little said his side now look more capable of scoring goals.

"It was not a great footballing performance against Chester but I always felt we could score," said Little today.

"We have got Drewe Broughton up there with two other lads, whatever combination it is, and I feel we have got goals in us.

"We've brought in a few forwards and that gives us options.

"In the last month, we knew we were not going to wipe the floor with the likes of Milton Keynes Dons and Peterborough. We needed to have the mentality to be more defensive.

"Now we are using the same system but trying to get the strikers more involved, and we look like scoring.

"People can criticise us for being too long-ball but we need results, and it is important for the strikers to play to their strengths."

Little admitted that Wrexham had been below their best against Chester but he was pleased to see his side battle their way to a welcome victory.

"Gavin Ward had to make some saves, which were important, and that is what he is there for," said Little.

"Once we got the goal it gave us a desire to hang on. That willingness is very important when you are down there.

"I was pleased to get the result like that, and you see how much of a difference it makes.

"Winning games makes a huge difference. That is stating the obvious but it is true.

"It's given us a big lift and a couple more like that, hopefully soon, would be great."

Wrexham take on Wycombe, who stand fifth in the table, just 48 hours after their derby victory at Chester.

Although Little would have liked more time between matches, he said Wrexham go into the clash in good heart after recording three points on Sunday.

"It is potentially a difficult game coming so quick after Chester which was a derby and quite intense," added Little.

"But it would be a lot more difficult if we did not get a result on Sunday. That has been a massive tonic and buoyed everybody.

"We are going into tonight's game in good spirits.

"Another 24 hours would have been ideal but you just have to get on with it."

Striker Rob Duffy, who damaged his knee after making a late substitute appearance at Chester, is ruled out.

And Little is still without injured midfield duo Danny Sonner (achilles) and Neil Roberts (ankle), and centre-back Steve Evans (knee).

Defender Neil Taylor and Gareth Evans are added to the squad.

WREXHAM (from): Ward, Bolland, Hope, Mike Williams, Spender, Whitley, Llewellyn, Tremarco, Hall, Broughton, Proctor, Spann, Aiston, Nicholson, Taylor, Gareth Evans, Anthony Williams.
