BRIAN LITTLE will name what he sees as the strongest squad available to him for tomorrow's match at Stafford Rangers.
Up to 18 players could make the trip to Stafford for Wrexham's last friendly, and although some could miss out due to injury - a handful are carrying minor knocks - Little's mind is very much on the opening game of the season.

"I will take 16-18 players and that squad will be as strong as it can be on current form as we see it," said Little today.

"And we will take it from there.

"We have always had Stevenage on our minds.

"But this is no different to four weeks, although we have been trying different partnerships and giving people 45 minutes and then a full game last week.

"Everything we have been doing has been based on trying to get it right for the opening day.

"Generally speaking I am happy with the 4-4-2 formation and we are working hard as a group."

Two different sides were given 90 minute run-outs in separate friendlies last Saturday, with one team losing 2-1 against The New Saints and the other beating Colwyn Bay 2-0.

And Little admits both performances gave him plenty to mull over.

"Last week was perfect for us," said Little. "We might have found something that thought would be better and don't want to do, while something else came through with flying colours. Lots of things have been highlighted.

"Certain players have shone but we are all in this together.

"Ultimately, they are still waiting for me to pick the team and they all want to be in it, and I can't fault them for that."

Little has urged a positive response from players not selected tomorrow.

"We have got loads of games coming up and the only way to handle disappointment is to knuckle down," added Little. "I pick a team I think is right but it does not mean I don't have time for other people."
