Mike's delight at Wrexham victory

MIKE WILLIAMS believes Wrexham showed excellent character to leave Steveange Borough with three points.
The Wrexham defence had to soak up their share of pressure but centre-back Williams was pleased with the efforts of the Reds' back-line.
"I am delighted with the win, especially in a game when you have been under the cosh for most of it," said Williams.
"It is great to come out with a win. In games like that when when teams have been under so much pressure, they can fold in and Stevenage could have won it.
"We showed great character by sticking at it and we scored right at the end.
" We have not played to the best of our ability but to still come out with a win shows we have got great character."
Williams is pleased with the partnership he has struck up with Ashley Westwood - captain for the last two matches - in the heart of defence.
"We have come up against some not bad strike partnerships in the Conference," said Williams. "Most games we are worked but I think me and Westy are getting a good understanding of each other, and it showed again today.
"Even though we were under the cosh I thought we dealt quite well with them."
Williams was delighted Wrexham returned to winning ways following their first defeat under Dean Saunders the previous weekend at Kidderminster.
And the Wales under 21 international is looking for another three points at Northwich Victoria on Wednesday.
"The strikers are quite a handfull and when they strike from outside the area there is nothing much you can do about them, "said Williams.
"But even though they got back into the game, Marc got the winner.
"We had to get last week's game out of our heads, and win today. We've got Northwich on Wednesday and need to make sure we pick up three points.
"We have got to carry on that winning streak again, keep on building on the wins we have had and moving up the table."
Williams also saluted scorers Jefferson and brother Marc for playing their part with goals on a day when Wrexham were not at their best.
"Me and Westy are having a good partnership and so are those two,"
added Williams. "It was only the last game I think that one of them hasn't scored.
"They know some day – like today – they could have done better but they both scored a goal. You can't fault them for that."
