Only a Wrexham win will do for Wes

WES BAYNES insists that nothing less than a victory will do in Wrexham's FA Cup fourth qualifying round replay against Eastwood Town at Coronation Park tonight (7.30pm).
Wrexham were held to a goal-less draw on their own ground at the weekend by the stubborn part-timers who play in the Unibond League Premier Division.

But right-back Baynes admits it is not unreasonable to expect Wrexham to overcome The Badgers and progress to the first round proper of the famous competition.

"We are expected to win so that puts more pressure on us," said Baynes today. "The lads can only do their best and will hopefully go on and win.

"We're definitely confident that we will win.

"We are two leagues higher than them, although we will respect them because they are big, strong and a tidy outfit.

"We have got to win and it would be very disappointing if we lost. But no-one is thinking of that.

"We have definitely got enough about us to win and I hope our chances go in."

Having impressed since Dean Saunders took charge as manager, Wrexham struggled to break down Eastwood and failed to make the most of the chances that did come their way.

But Baynes said Wrexham will be going out to finish the job off tonight.

"Like the gaffer said it is half-time," said Baynes. "We had a few chances but as a team we did not create too much.

"We can pass it better as we have shown in previous games.

"Some things just never fell for us. Neil Taylor would normally have stuck his chances away. We've got to try and put it right tonight."

The winners have been given a home draw in the first round against Brackley Town, who play in the British Gas Business Premier League - the same level of the non-league pyramid as Eastwood.

But Baynes said Wrexham have to concentrate on overcoming Eastwood before the possibility of a tie against another non-league outfit.

"It is great to get a home draw so hopefully we can get it sorted tonight and then push on," said Baynes. "But we have to make sure we get the job done against Eastwood before we think of Brackley.

"We have just got to take every game as it comes."

Baynes has started all four matches since Saunders took over from Brian Little, and the 20-year-old has also switched back to a right-back role having previously operated on the right of midfield this term.

And Baynes is delighted with the faith shown in him by Saunders.

"I thought I was quite steady," added Baynes. "Part of my game is overlapping and getting crosses in so hopefully I will get a few assists.

"It is great to be back in the side and playing week in, week out.

"The gaffer has shown belief in me and said he thinks I am a good player which is good.

"I don't mind if I play right back or in midfield as I like both positions."

Eastwood are expected to be unchanged from the team that held out at The Racecourse on Saturday.
