Preston North End's Nathan Fairhurst is gunning for goals in his loan spell at Wrexham.
The 19-year-old Preston North End centre midfielder has joined Wrexham on a one-month loan deal along with 20-year-old winger Nathan Woolfe who has come in from Bolton Wanderers for the same period.
Both go straight into the squad for tomorrow's league trip to Weymouth and Fairhurst, who signed his first professional contract at Deepdale in the summer, is hoping the style of play manager Dean Saunders wants to see from the Reds will lead to him finding the net.
"The gaffer has told me what he wants from me and I am going to do my best," said Fairhurst today. "Hopefully I will start tomorrow and I show what I can do.
"I like to get forward as much as I can and get on the scoresheet, and I will be aiming to do that at Weymouth.
"I have not scored a lot lately but trying to get goals is a part of my game.
"And the gaffer wants me to play a different way here to what I did at Preston so that should lead to more chances."
Fairhurst has not played for the first team at Championship outfit Preston but has captained the reserve side.
But as well as trying to aid Wrexham in their promotion push, Fairhurst believes he will learn a lot from Saunders, and added: "I have been playing for the reserves week in, week out, and the manager Alan Irvine said I'd been doing well.
"I've come out on loan to get some experience. I'm delighted to come here. It is a great set-up and the gaffer is sound, and easy to talk to.
"I can learn a lot from him to make me a better player. While I am here I want to be consistent and play as much as I can.
"I am looking forward to it and being here can only benefit me in the long run."
"Wrexham will be going for a fifth win in five games tomorrow and hopefully get closer to the top. I am here to try and help them get up the league.
Winger Woolfe, a regular for Bolton's reserve team, has been restricted to just one senior appearance when he was introduced by boss Gary Megson as a substitute in the UEFA Cup tie against Sporting Lisbon in March this year.
Eager to build on that, Woolfe – equally at home on either flank but with a preference for the left – believes his loan spell will benefit his career and boost his prospects at The Reebok Stadium.
"I have come here for games and hopefully I play tomorrow," said Woolfe. "I am hoping to get some good experience here. The chance of competitive football is better than playing in the reserves.
"Left wing is my favourite position but I can play on the right as well.
"This is the first time I have been out on loan so it is a new experience for me but the gaffer sounds like a good manager. Hopefully he will improve me as a player.
"With this experience behind me I can take it back to Bolton.
"I am out of contract at the end of the season and it needs renewing, so I have got to impress.
" I have got to show I am worthy of playing in the Premiership and this move can help me do that."
Wrexham boast a 100 per cent league record under Saunders, and Woolfe – on the books of Manchester City as a youngster along with Reds' captain Neil Taylor – hopes to help the club record more victories.
"I feel good about joining Wrexham and I can't wait for Weymouth tomorrow," added Woolfe. "Hopefully we do well and get another win.
"I am hoping to score goals and contribute to some more wins to help Wrexham go up the table and to promotion.
"They seem like a good set of lads and it helps coming into a side that is winning, it is a good atmosphere here."
Delighted with the acquisition of the two Nathans, Saunders is hoping the pair weigh in with their share of goals.
But Saunders wants to see all his midfielders find the target regularly.
"They are both young, enthusiastic and winners," said Saunders. "I am looking for goals from them, but I am looking for goals from all the midfielders. I expect them all to get ten – minimum."
Meanwhile, Saunders is also taking a look at trialist striker Kieron St Aimie, who scored two goals in Grays Athletic's 2-1 win against Wrexham on September 20.
