Michael Proctor is fully focused on helping Wrexham bounce back into League Two at the first time of asking if a move to another club fails to come to fruition.
Despite the fact that the 27-year-old finished as Wrexham's top scorer with 11 league goals last term, Proctor has had very little contact from any other clubs and remains on the transfer list at The Racecourse.

"I've not really heard anything to be honest so obviously I'm still a Wrexham player and I'm happy enough to be back," declared Proctor.

"It's a good club. The manager has made some good signings over the summer and I'm looking forward to the challenge ahead. I feel good, I had a good break over the summer and we are all looking to put last season behind us now.

Proctor admitted that nobody at the club can have any complaints with the manager's decision to offload the majority of last season's playing staff following relegation.

"The way the season went last year none of us did ourselves any favours and we let everybody down to be honest, the manager, the club, the fans and each other," added the former Sunderland striker.

"Nobody can really have any complaints about being told they can leave the club or whatever because we didn't perform.

"We were given plenty of opportunities to get out ourselves out of the mess we were in and we didn't do it so it is fair enough."

Proctor has watched with renewed interest manager Brian Little's transfer activity over the summer following Wrexham's relegation from League Two.

"The gaffer has signed a couple of strikers or a couple of lads that can play up front, but as long as I am at the club I will be fighting for my place and working as hard as I can to prove to the manager that I am worth a starting place come the first game of the season.

"I am looking forward to the season, I will work as hard as I can over pre-season, and I am confident in my own ability, I know I can score goals. I am confident I can score goals at any level so I am confident I can score at this level.

"As long as I am at the club I will fight, try and get my place back and I am more than happy to be here.

"You always want to do as well as you can for yourself first and foremost and I will be working as hard as I can to try and prove people wrong and score as many goals as I can.

"I am more than happy at the club. Myself and my wife are happy in the area, the club is fantastic, there is a good bunch of lads, the facilities are second to none and it does not feel like it's a Conference club in any way, shape or form. I am delighted to stay if that's the case."

Meanwhile, manager Brian Little admits his search to find a replacement for the signing that never was – Paul Carden – is still something he is looking at.

"It's an area we are very aware of and involved in, said Little. "We did lose Carden but there are a few things that have surprised us on the training pitch and it makes us think we might have something we weren't aware of.

"We know that Levi and Conal have had experience of this league and Levi did exceptionally well. Young Fleming, who we all think is a decent player anyway, and Tom who we like.

"We are involved in one deal and we continue to keep tabs on things but until that final call in could be a million miles away."

Ask Brian

If you have a question for Brian Little email it to digitalnews@nwn.co.uk and we'll ask as many as we can during our next video interview with the Reds boss this Thursday.
