NATHAN WOOLFE was delighted to have scored his first senior goal – but the left winger said victory was more important.
The 20-year-old, who has joined Wrexham on a one month loan deal from Bolton Wanderers, opened the scoring in the 3-1 win at Weymouth with a superb curling free-kick into the top corner after just 15 minutes.

Pleased with the goal, Woolfe said the priority was picking up three points.

"It was a good goal," said Woolfe.

"It was on the right side for me and I thought, 'I'm the only let footer here' so I had to take the chance.

"I felt amazing when it went in, especially on my debut and in front of the fans to start like that.

"First half went well so I was glad we held the lead because it would have been no good if we didn't win.

"I enjoyed it all the way. I was sad to come off but it was for the best, for the team, to try and keep the lead.

"I am hoping that while I am here for the five games we can win all five and take the team up the table again. That will be very good."

Woolfe also praised fellow scorers Jefferson Louis and Marc Williams who secured victory with their late strikes.

"The second was a well taken finish," said Woolfe. "When Jefferson chipped it I thought it might be going over but it was well taken.

"The third goal was a bit lucky but Marc still took it well."

Asked how he thought Blue Square Premier football compared with playing for Bolton reserves. Woolfe added: "I was similar really. It was a bit more long ball. When we got the ball we tried to play football but we were under a lot of pressure in the second half.

"It is a good experience, that is why I have come here, to play more professional first team football and it feels good.

"He is a good manager, I can learn off people like that and take it back to Bolton."

Manager Dean Saunders admitted Woolfe was not scheduled to be on free-kick duties.

"He wasn't even supposed to be on then," said Saunders, who also handed a debut to centre midfielder Nathan Fairhurst who has joined on loan from Preston North End.

"We practiced them on Friday and Wes Baynes hit them all. I did say to him if he fancied it on that side of the pitch to go and do it.

"But I knew he could do that when he was at Bolton. It was a great goal to score and the two of them did well."
