DEAN SAUNDERS believes losing to Eastwood might have been a "blessing in disguise."
Wrexham face Altrincham at Moss Lane in the third round of the Setanta Shield tonight having won all four league matches under Saunders.

The Reds suffered FA Cup heartache against Eastwood Town last week but Saunders said lessons were learnt from that defeat.

"We want to win tonight's game," said Saunders.

"I will get a chance to have a look at a few others I have not seen but I don't want to change it too much..

"I want to keep a winning habit going and instill that into the club – it has had enough of losing

"Eastwood might be a blessing in disguise – look what happens if you are not right. It has made people realise that if their attitude is not spot on, they can be beaten by anyone."

Saunders believes Saturday's win against Lewes, although not spectacular, will make other teams sit up and take notice of in-form Wrexham.

"The players worked hard. You can't be pretty all the time and we could have been more ruthless but the principles were good," said Saunders.

"Although we were not brilliant we made Lewes look bad. And we have closed the gap.

"Saturday sent out a message we are hard to play against and we are coming like a steam train. We might take a few steps backwards but we are ploughing on."

Saunders added: "There is no room for slackers. People are having a go at each other, they know what is required from their team mates.

"If someone is not at it then it can all go out of the window."

Saunders is forced into one change tonight as right midfielder Wes Baynes is serving a one match ban after picking up five bookings; and full-back Carl Tremarco, who missed the Lewes win because of an ankle injury sustained in training on Friday, may not be risked.

- Wrexham's home game against Forest Green Rovers on Tuesday, November 18 has been called off because of international call-ups.

Captain Neil Taylor and brothers Mike and Marc Williams have been named in the Wales semi-professional squad for the international against Finland on the same evening.
