MARC WILLIAMS has been told to get to the 20-goal mark as soon as possible by manager Dean Saunders.
Wales under-21 international striker Williams took his tally for the season to 12 goals in all competitions with a hat-trick in Saturday's 5-0 drubbing of Eastbourne, and he is determined the goals continue to flow so that he reaches his manager's target.

"I am delighted with my first senior hat-trick," said Williams.

"We have just been talking about the Forest Green one that got taken away in the last minute and I wasn't going to pass up another chance.

"I am just pleased to get a hat-trick in the end.

"It's nice to have scored so many goals so soon. I just want to keep playing, keep working hard and hopefully the goals will come.

"I think that is ten in the league and I have just got to push on and keep scoring goals. If I work hard I am sure they will keep coming.
"The gaffer said on Friday 'how many are you on?'

"I said nine and he said 'well get 20 and make sure it's quick!' We have got a few games over Christmas so hopefully they keep going in."

Williams is Wrexham's joint leading scorer along with Jefferson Louis who struck once in the win over Eastbourne.

Having seen chances limited under previous manager Brian Little, Williams is enjoying a run in the side and is pleased with the partnership he has struck up with Louis.

"Jeff and I have got a good partnership going at the moment," said Williams. "He had a couple of chances and scored a good goal as well.

"If both of us can get up to 20 we will have a good chance of promotion – we need that.

"We are both in good form and we have just got to keep it going.

"It is not a competition between us both, although I do look at the more games he played under Brian Little.

"You can probably see by the way I'm playing that I am enjoying it – under Little I had three substitute appearances in the last five minutes.

"I am starting at the minute and I am delighted with that, and obviously the performances and goals are coming."

Although seventh place Wrexham failed to move up the table because the majority of their promotion rivals also tasted success, Williams is confident the Reds will move in the right direction if they maintain their current form, adding: "We have got a few games over Christmas and we have just got to stay in shape, and make sure we keep getting three points.

"The other teams are winning around us but if we keep winning, I am sure we will go up the table.

"I have seen we haven't moved up today and it seems to be the same every Saturday. But I'm sure if we keep winning we will start to move up."
