NEIL TAYLOR would be happy to continue in a left midfield role for Wrexham.
Although he has normally played on the left of defence for the Reds, the Wales under 21 international featured in midfield in Saturday's 1-0 victory against Wolves.

And Taylor was delighted to be given that role by manager Brian Little: "The gaffer is trying different combinations before deciding what the team will be at the end of pre-season," he said today.

"I was happy playing left midfield as I like that role going forward. I don't mind which position I am asked to play – I am a bit like Wes Baynes on the right – but I have been converted into a winger and I can do the defensive stuff as well.

"I enjoyed it Saturday. I've had a virus this past month and struggled slightly with my breathing but it was a good 45 minutes.

"I was happy with my performance but it is early doors and you've got to keep it going."

Wrexham ran out deserved 1-0 winners against Wolves and Taylor was pleased with the outcome of the first pre-season friendly.

But the 19-year-old stressed the importance of building on that performance in the run-up to the new Blue Square Premier campaign.

"It was a really good win and great for morale but we can't get carried away," added Taylor.

"You want to get that winning mentality as early as possible and we will take that into Saturday's friendly. But we have to make sure our performances continue like that. You don't want to lose games but performances are important too. It is important Wolves was not a one-off.

- Buckley & District Reds are holding their next meeting tomorrow at Buckley Cricket Club, 8pm start. Non members can join on the night.
