FORMER Wrexham players Neil Wainwright and Lee McEvilly have headed to new clubs.
Neil Wainwright has joined Sammy McIlroy at Morecombe, while Lee McEvilly has signed a two-year deal with Cambridge United.
Lee McEvilly, 26, spent the second half of last season on loan with the U's and made 15 starts and two substitute appearances.
That included his late appearance at Burton Albion in the play-off semi-final first leg when he came off the bench to level the scores with a superb free-kick and a penalty to take his goal tally to five.
Despite missing five weeks in March and April with an ankle injury, McEvilly, who left Wrexham by mutual consent last summer after two seasons at The Racecourse, returned for the last five games of the season and the play-offs.
Even though Cambridge failed to win a place back in the Football League after losing the play-off final against Exeter at Wembley, McEvilly has decided to stay with the U's after being released by Accrington Stanley.
Meanwhile Neil Wainwright told Radio Lancashire: "Morecambe did very well last season and hearing what a nice club it is, I decided it was right for me."
