SHAUN WHALLEY is claiming Wrexham's first goal against Lewes.
Whalley got the final touch after Ashley Westwood's header from Wes Bayne's corner was heading for the back of the net.

It was Whalley's fifth goal of the season but the first since he grabbed a brace in the 4-1 win at Salisbury on August 30, and the winger was delighted to have won a bet with manager Dean Saunders in the process.

"The gaffer said if you score I'll give you £100," said Whalley. "He has just given me the £100 so I am made up with that as well," said Whalley.

"It was nearly over the line from Ashley but because the gaffer said that, I just thought I would get a foot on it and it has obviously gone in.

"Ashley's not bad about it, he is rich enough anyway with all the moves he has had."

And Whalley was delighted that Wrexham extended their winning run in the Blue Square Premier to four games, adding: "I am made up with the three points."

"It was a big three points because we have won four games in a row now.

"The gaffer is delighted and we are too.

"All we can do is keep winning our games and keep climbing up the table."

Disappointed Wrexham crashed out of the FA Cup at Eastwood, Whalley claims that the priority is winning promotion back to the Football League.

"We did have a lot of chances but it was always going to come really.
"It was pretty comfortable out there.

"We just worked really hard off the ball and pressed them well, and just stopped them from playing. And we got the two goals.

"We are flying in the league but disappointed we got knocked out of the FA Cup.

"But getting out of this league is our main objective this season so we have just got to keep winning, and then we will climb up the table."
