WREXHAM FC climbed to 8th in the table with victory over Ebbsfleet United at The Racecourse.
But Brian Little's side - who saw Steve Evans return to the side after international duty with Wales - were made to battle all the way by a determined Ebbsfleet side, who took the lead justbefore the half hour mark when Neil Barrett headed home Stacy Long's corner.
But Wrexham were back on level terms in the 37th minute when top scorer Jefferson Louis converted after being set up skipper Tom Kearney.
However, the Reds might have gone behind again on the brink of half time when Barrett missed a great opportunity from 10 yards out.
And just five minutes after the re-start, Wrexham made Ebbsfleet pay for that miss when Louis struck again, this time heading home Shaun Whalley's cross.
With 15 minutes remaining, the Reds gave themselves some breathing space when Darius Charles fouled Simon Brown inside the penalty area and Brown himself stepped up to convert the spot kick.
But that was not the end of the drama. Ebbsfleet pulled a goal back through Michael Gash in stoppage time but the Reds held out for a vital win after successive defeats.
Wrexham: Ward, Spender, Steve Evans, Kempson, Tremarco, Simon Brown, Kearney, Mackin (75 Baynes), Neil Taylor (46 Proctor), Louis (75 Smith), Whalley.
Subs not used: Marc Williams, Mike Williams
