WREXHAM FC boss Brian Little has confirmed that Tom Kearney will be Reds skipper for the new season.

And Little believes midfielder Kearney, a former Everton trainee who has also played for Bradford City, is an excellent choice with good leadership qualities.

"The current situation says we need someone who takes responsibility well," Little told Leader Online today (Thursday, August 7).

"Referees like someone to relate to and as captain you need someone who stops and thinks, and is not hot headed.

"Tom is a great choice. He knows this league, is experienced and has also played in the Football League.

"There are a lot of things on his shoulder but he will be a great liaison between referee and the team."
