WREXHAM FC manager Dean Saunders endured a frustrating afternoon as the Reds were held to a 0-0 draw in the final qualifying round of the FA Cup.

Watched by a crowd of over 3,000, Wrexham failed to break down the part-timers and now face a replay on Tuesday night as they bid to reach the first round proper of the cup.

On a bluster afternoon, Saunders recalled Steve Evans in defence, with Silvio Spann and Shaun Whalley also starting.

Whalley went close in the opening five minutes as Wrexham went in search of a fourth successive victory.

The Reds had keeper Gavin Ward to thank for keeping them in the match when he produced a fine double save to deny Ian Holmes on 20 minutes.

Neil Taylor went close for Wrexham shortly before half time, while Michael Proctor might have done better when well placed five minutes after the break.

With time running out, Evans headed a Wes Baynes corner over the bar and Wrexham fans had to endure some nervous moments as the Badgers went in search of a shock win.
