WREXHAM FC'S promising start to the season continued with a 2-0 victory over 10-man Oxford United.
A crowd of just over 3,300 turned out for the match, which saw Reds' boss Brian Little hand a Blue Square Premier debut to summer signing Kyle Critchell at the expense of Simon Brown.

Steve Evans kept his place in the centre of defence, while Nat Brown, who missed Sunday's match at Rishden and Diamonds with injury, had to be content with a place on the bench.

Wrexham started positively and should have taken the lead from the penalty spot after just 11 minutes.

Oxford's Luke Foster was dismissed for his challenge on Shaun Whalley, but Jefferson Louis' resulting spot kick was saved by Jake Cole.

However, Wrexham battled on and were rewarded when Evans headed home skipper Tom Kearney's corner just before the half hour mark.

After the re-start, the Reds continued to create chances, with Levi Mackin, Darren Kempson and Louis all going close.

But Louis wrapped things up in injury time, finishing from 18 yards to seal an important victory for Wrexham.
