Wrexham battle cry - Darran Kempson wants Reds fans to get behind their team.

DARRAN KEMPSON is urging supporters to
get behind Wrexham through their bad
patch, writes RICHARD WILLIAMS.
Wrexham were booed off by supporters after
Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Grays Athletic, and
although centre-back Kempson understands fans'
frustrations he hopes they will give the players
their full backing when Wrexham entertain
Rushden & Diamonds tonight.
"I want to ask fans if they can just get behind us,"
said Kempson today.
"Things don't always go to plan but they have to
support us through it.
"It is a tough time but we are all in it together and
being united will help us.
"I am quite experienced now and have learnt
that fans have a right to be unhappy.
"The fans spent a lot of money and travelled a
long way and we were not at our best.
"From my point of view, I have learnt to blank it
out. It does not get to me because I am concentrating,
but I am just asking fans to get behind us."
Kempson accepts that it was a poor display at
Grays as Wrexham slumped to a fourth defeat in
ten outings this term.
Three of those came away from home and
Kempson hopes Wrexham can continue their
impressive record at The Racecourse, although he
emphasised the need to be more consistent.
"It was a very disappointing performance again
on Saturday," said Kempson. "We can't dwell on
things, we have got to keep working hard and do
better in all areas.
"We got beat at home against Burton and we
seem to be hot and cold. We need to be more consistent.
"We are looking better at home and it is a massive
game. We need to bounce back and show a
better attitude. We've got to stop them scoring,
create chances and score goals.
"The back four has been solid but the goals we
conceded at Grays were not good enough.
"I don't think you could blame Gavin Ward as he
did not have a chance."
Kempson was an unused substitute when the
England C team was beaten 6-2 by Bosnia and
Herzegovinia in a friendly in Sarajevo last
Tuesday.
The squad arrived in the Bosnian capital a day
late following two aborted attempts to fly in from
Vienna, having seen their original connecting
flight on Sunday cancelled.
Manager Paul Fairclough's party was then forced
to take a plane to Split in Croatia instead, before
enduring a six hour coach journey to Sarajevo, and
to make matters worse for Kempson he picked up
a knee injury in training on the day of the game.
"Everything went against us and it was a bit of a
nightmare," added Kempson.
"We could not land, did not get any sleep or eat
properly, but we just had to get on with it.
"And then I got injured in a training session on
the day of the game.
"We were practicing free-kicks and I kneed the
goalkeeper on the side of the head, knocking him
unconscious. I was in agony and could not play
which was so disappointing.
"The icing on the cake was that we lost 6-2, but
thankfully I was okay to play Saturday even
though I was a bit sore."
