BRIAN LITTLE today admitted he has made a number of enquiries about the availability of Chester City leading scorer Kevin Ellison.
The Reds boss was hoping to lure ten-goal Ellison to The Racecourse before the transfer window closes tomorrow.

But Chester have turned down Wrexham's advances, and Little expects that to be the end of the matter unless the Blues change their mind.

"It is not something that seems to be happening," said Little today. "I think it is common knowledge we have been interested in Kevin for a while. He is someone we have asked questions about on a few occasions.

"Getting a potential match winner is a target most people won't let go.

I can understand why Chester are holding onto him and we have to accept that."

Little does not anticipate anyone leaving The Racecourse before the transfer window closes but has not ruled out adding a loan signing to the Wrexham squad.

But with Wrexham seven points away from safety, Little said the Reds' position has put potential targets off aiding their relegation fight.

"It would be nice to give us that extra push and bring someone in so we will see what happens," said Little.

"We are not giving up asking about people, but we need people who would improve the team.

"If someone can improve us, we will try to do that but there is not much going on.

"Our biggest problem is where we are in the table.

"A lot of people are available but may not fancy going to a club in our position. That is where our biggest problem lies. If someone is coming in, they have got to want to come in."

Little has secured the services of Milton Keynes Dons striker Drewe Broughton for a third and final month.

Broughton has a month left of the maximum 93-day loan period allowed meaning he can play in all of Wrexham's remaining games except the final day clash at Lincoln CIty on May 3.

But the frontman will miss MK Dons' Johnstone's Paint Trophy final against Grimsby Town at Wembley on Sunday. Broughton scored the winning penalty in the Dons' Southern Area final shoot-out win against Swansea.
