WREXHAM'S hopes of avoiding relegation were dealt a hammer blow after defeat at Barnet.
Brian Little's side fell behind in injury time at the end of the first half, when Ismail Yakubu headed home after the Reds had failed to clear Nicky Nicolau's cross.

And things got worse for Wrexham five minutes after the restart when Anthony Thomas scored from six yards.

The Reds hit back on 55 minutes, when Drewe Broughton headed home Gareth Evans' cross, sparking hopes of a comeback.

But they were dealt a blow when Nicolau restored Barnet's advantage after being set up by Thomas.

Simon Spender gave the Reds a fighting chance with his 18-yard effort on 65 minutes, but Wrexham were unable to salvage a point.

Don't miss Monday's Evening Leader for all the reaction.
Wrexham: Ward, Spender, Hope (69 Mike Williams), Done, Bolland, Gareth Evans, Aiston (72 Whitley), Hall, Broughton, Proctor, Llewellyn.
Subs not used: Anthony Williams, Marc Williams, Nicholson.
