TWO goals from Brentford's Ricky Shakes condemned battling Wrexham to defeat, leaving them bottom of Legaue 2.
Brian Little's side were undone by a goal in each half from Shakes and, despite creating a number of scoring opportunities, the Reds were unable to salvage anything from the game.

Wrexham, who welcomed back Neil Roberts and Danny Sonner after injuries, found themselves a goal down on the half hour mark when Shakes took advantage of some poor defending to put the home side in front.

The Reds fought back and Phil Bolland and Roberts went close with headers, while Brentford keeper Simon Brown pulled off a good save following a goalmouth scramble.

Wrexham continued to press after the break, but could not break down a resiliant Brentford side, who secured three points on 80 minutes when Shakes converted from 12 yards.

The Reds are now six points adrift of safety and will be looking to pick up three points when they entertain Dagenham and Redbridge on Monday at The Racecourse.

Wrexham: Ward, Spender, Roberts (66 Done), Proctor, Llewellyn, Mike Williams, Gareth Evans, Bolland, Aiston, Sonner (67 Hall), Broughton
Subs not used: Anthony Williams, Hope, Whitley
