A SECOND half fightback by Wrexham was not enough to earn a point against highflying Wycombe.

The Reds found themselves 2-0 down at half time after Leon Knight on 14 minutes and Scott McGleish on 21 minutes had given Wycombe the ideal start.

But Brian Little's men came out fighting after the break and pulled a goal back through leading scorer Michael Proctor on 53 minutes after being set up by Carl Tremarco.

But Wrexham could not find a second goal, leaving them rooted to the bottom of League Two.

And with Macclesfield winning at Dagenham and Redbridge, it means the Reds are now six points adrift of safety.

Wrexham: Ward, Spender, Tremarco, Hope (45 Evans), Williams, Hall, Bolland (45 Taylor), Whitley (45 Aiston), Llewellyn, Proctor, Broughton
Substs not used: Williams, Nicholson

Don't miss Wednesday's Evening Leader for all the reaction and analysis.
