WREXHAM'S hopes of avoiding relegation from League 2 suffered a major blow after being held to goalless draw by Dagenham and Redbridge.

A Bank Holiday crowd of just under 4,700 at The Racecourse watched the Reds hit the woodwork twice in the second half as they went in search of three points.

Wrexham, who handed starting places to Richard Hope and Matty Done, saw Michael Proctor hit the bar on 54 minutes, before Drewe Broughton's header also found the woodwork on 70 minutes.

The result, which leaves the Reds seven points adrift of safety after Notts County drew and Macclesfield won, completes a hugely disappointing weekend for Brian Little's men following Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Brentford.

Don't miss Monday's Evening Leader for all the reaction from The Racecourse.
