STRIKER Drewe Broughton - the man Brian Little made captain in Wrexham's fight to stay in the league - has been given the boot by League Two champions, MK Dons.
Broughton, 29, spent three months on loan at Wrexham last season and could become a potential target for Wrexham when his contract expires on June 30.

MK Dons chief Pete Winkelman paid tribute to the much-travelled striker, who has the unenviable tag of playing for the last three clubs to go down into non-league football - Rushden, Boston and Wrexham.

Winkelman said: "While Drewe had only been with us for a year, his efforts both on and off the pitch have contributed a great deal to what has been an historic season for the club."

Wrexham will be making a trip to Cambridge next season after they lost out to Exeter City in yesterday's Blue Square Premier Final play-off.

That could alert Little to Cambridge midfielder Paul Carden, who has been on loan at The Abbey from Accrington Stanley.

Meanwhile Mike Ingham will be lining up against Wrexham next season after he was snapped up by York City on a free transfer from Hereford.
