BRIAN LITTLE has vowed to ring the changes for Saturday's match against Ebbsfleet United at The Racecourse.
Wrexham boss, Brian Little, made the pledge after seeing his side slump to a disappointing 2-0 defeat against Cambridge United at the weekend, the Reds' second successive loss.

Defeat leaves Wrexham, also beaten by Burton Albion in midweek, 13th in the Blue Square Premier after eight matches, six points adrift of top spot.

Disappointed with some of his players' performances, Little hopes the versatile Nat Brown (groin strain) will be available for the visit of Ebbsfleet, with centre-back Steve Evans also set for an immediate recall on his return from international duty with Wales.

"Today gives me an opportunity to change one or two faces in the team again," said Little today. "People have under performed now for a couple of games.

"I don't think we were that bad on Tuesday. That has disappointed people but we should be able to get over that.

"I hope Nat is fit for next weekend and obviously Steve is back. They are two big characters out of the side and I think we missed them today.

"Generally speaking, a lot of people have missed an opportunity to stay in the team today.

"We have got a good week ahead of ourselves and I would imagine there will be some changes for next weekend, and we are looking for a massive improvement on, if not result, on how the team approaches a game.

"I thought we were off the pace today.

"We said things in there that we felt were needed to be said, and I am quite sure there will be a reaction to that."

Little admitted that Wrexham had struggled to come to terms with highflying Cambridge's 4-3-3 system, with former Reds' striker Lee McEvilly causing his fair share of problems.

And Little was unhappy with his side's response after going behind after 25 minutes.

"Jefferson Louis had a poor game, Simon Brown had an indifferent game, and in midfield Tom Kearney worked his socks off but was a little bit on his own," said Little.

"The two full-backs were poor, which is unlike Carl Tremarco especially so.

"I don't know Lee McEvilly but he had a field day today so defensively we missed someone who might have been able to deal with him in terms of two characters in Steve and Nat.

"We never got to grips with them at all after the first 15 minutes. The goal was the big changing point and it is disappointing we could not react from the goal.

"I am quite convinced we will from know on.

"You might say the horse has bolted and I accept that but sometimes you need the horse to bolt to open your eyes to certain things.

"We will definitely knuckle down and make sure that doesn't happen again."

Little admitted that Wrexham did not like getting anything out of the game after trailing midway through the first half, and he held a lengthy chat with his players in the changing rooms after the final whistle.

"I thought we started well enough," said Little.

"Generally speaking the team was okay for the first 15 minutes but once the goal went in, although we did not lose desire, we did not look like getting back into the game.

"That was the disappointing thing. We never functioned in the final third.

"Individually and collectively, the team was below what we would like them to be so we have talked about that which is the important thing to do.

"Whatever has been said will be kept in there but I thought we went below the standard that we like to do based on the fact that we are better than that.

"We are looking forward to putting it right. In fact, we all wish we could play right now."

Little bemoaned the fact that Wrexham, despite a couple of early chances, never made an impact in front of goal, adding: "The first goal was bad enough from a corner, and then we should have dealt with the second."

"Outside of that, Gavin Ward had one good save, their keeper pulled a couple of good saves off.

"One of the things we have got to come to terms with is working a little bit harder collectively than we are doing at the moment.

"Individually we are working hard but the unit hasn't worked hard enough today in cohesion with each other.

"Their system gave us a few problems in the middle of the field so we tried to adjust to that, but because of that we never really looked good enough in the final third"
