MATCH REPORT: Eastwood Town 2-0 Wrexham

NOTHING can justify Wrexham crashing out of the FA Cup against Eastwood Town at Coronation Park last night.
Wrexham were humiliated by Eastwood Town - The Badgers - in their fourth qualifying round replay as the Unibond League Premier Division outfit ran out deserved 2-0 winners.
This was Wrexham's second bite of the cherry after drawing a blank in Saturday's goal-less draw but yet again they struggled to produce the goods against Paul Cox's plucky part-timers.
If that first performance can be described as an off-day, then yesterday's was just shocking.
Wrexham should have had enough to overcome a side who play two divisions below them.
But there was no invention or creativity from Wrexham as they tried to break down a well organised Eastwood back-line.
Having trailed 1-0 at the break, it was if Wrexham were just going through the motions in the second half and there was no quality in their build-up play as their attempts to get back into the tie failed.
Eastwood, operating with a 4-5-1 formation, out fought and out played Wrexham.
They were happy to sit back and see Wrexham attacks come to nothing and thencounter as the Reds' midfield - coming under more scrutiny - failed to take the game by the scruff of the neck and just ran out of ideas.
Manager Dean Saunders admitted Wrexham did not have enough talent to break down the home side.
And that was all too evident in both matches.
Wrexham just did not look like scoring and with just two efforts on target - the second came in the last minute - it is little wonder there were shouts of "what a load of rubbish" from the travelling fans.
After three consecutive league defeats at the start of his reign as manager, Saunders' honeymoon period is well and truly over.
This embarrassment before the first round in the FA Cup will prove costly financially but Saunders has got to make sure the recent good work in the league is not undone.
And that means the addition of new players if Wrexham are to mount a promotion challenge which was at the start of the season - and still is - the main priority.
Saunders made two changes to the starting line-up that drew the first encounter between the sides.
Second year scholar Obi Anoruo was handed a debut in place of Michael Proctor in attack while midfielder Tom Kearney was recalled after being omitted from the side for the previous five matches since Brian Little's departure.
Shaun Whalley was the man who made way for Kearney with captain Neil Taylor reverting from the centre to a more natural left midfield role.
Eastwood manager Paul Cox must have been happy with The Badgers' display at The Racecourse after earning a replay as he named an unchanged team.
Eastwood demonstrated their attacking intentions as early as the ninth minute when Ian Holmes raced onto Andrew Todd's through ball but keeper Gavin Ward raced out to cut out the danger with a smart block.
Anoruo's effort from outside the area at the other end fell wide while Ashley Westwood's overhead kick was comfortably saved on the line by Redmond after a corner was headed back into the danger zone by Silvio Spann.
However, it was Eastwood who drew first blood by taking a 22nd minute lead.
Holmes struck the bar following a corner and after the follow-up also struck the woodwork, Andrew Todd finally turned the ball home from close range.
Taylor's shot cleared the bar as Wrexham countered after going behind yet again but Eastwood were not taking their foot off the gas and continued to ask questions of the Reds' defence when they pressed forward.
And it took a crucial challenge from last man Westwood to deny Holmes a scoring chance in the area with just Ward to beat in the final minute of the half.
Whalley was introduced as a substitute for the second period in place of Spann while Proctor soon replaced Anoruo.
Eastwood showed no signs of wilting but they were aided by error-strewn Wrexham, typified by Westwood's mistake which was seized upon by Holmes and the striker was not far away with his drive.
Proctor headed Baynes' 70th minute corner well wide as Wrexham struggled to create scoring chances in a bid to get back in the contest.
But Eastwood almost got a second goal when Lindon Meikle and Ross Gardner combined to set up Holmes who only just fired over.
Marc Williams went wide for Wrexham but the home side made it 2-0 nine minutes from time.
Todd's shot from the edge of the area was fumbled by Ward and Holmes had the simple task of slotting home the loose ball.
Eastwood were reduced to ten men two minutes from time when substitute Peter Knox, who had only been on the pitch 30 seconds, was shown a straight red card for a two-footed challenge on Baynes.
Whalley's header from Kearney's corner was saved by Redmond in the last minute but there was no way back for sorry Wrexham.
