WREXHAM lost their first league game under Dean Saunders - but their attempts to try and get something out of the game at Aggborough could not be faulted.
Saunders made the best start to a managerial stint at The Racecourse with five league victories in a row but that run ended against Kidderminster Harriers on Saturday.
Wrexham were beaten 1-0 but they certainly had their share of goalscoring chances.
The Reds hit the post three times in an opening half where Kidderminster caused their share of problems and took the lead.
But after the break it was all Wrexham and home goalkeeper Adam Bartlett kept his side in the game with a number of excellent saves, while the Reds went close on a number of other occasions.
Saunders could not believe Wrexham did not have a goal to show for their efforts but he could not criticise his players for their determination to avoid defeat.
The second half will go down as one of Wrexham's best 45 minutes of the season.
Wrexham will play worse and win games.
After an excellent start to his managerial career, Saunders was disappointed Wrexham could not keep their good run going against highflying Kidderminster.
Saunders can take positives out of the defeat and he will be looking for nothing less than three points at Stevenage Borough on Saturday.
Wrexham are still in a good position in the Blue Square Premier table but the two games in hand that they have could turn out to be crucial.
Unsurprisingly, Saunders named an unchanged side at Aggborough following the Reds' recent good run of form.
And Kidderminster, boasting the best home record in the division, also showed no changes in their starting eleven.
With both sides venturing forward at every opportunity, the first real chance came Wrexham's way in the seventh minute when Wes Baynes struck a post with his fantastic long range effort after being picked out by Mike Williams.
Martin Brittain brought a routine save out of keeper Gavin Ward at the other end, while Marc Williams shot wide following a goalmouth scramble when Kidderminster failed to clear.
But Kidderminster took the lead in the 25th minute.
Matthew Barnes-Homer was allowed to cross from the right flank and Brian Smikle controlled before smashing the ball past Ward.
Wrexham immediately hit back through Nathan Woolfe who hit a post after being played in by Jefferson Louis, but Kidderminster came close to doubling their lead when Russell Penn fired narrowly wide under the challenge of Ritchie de Laet.
It was de Laet's last action of the half as he was replaced by captain Neil Taylor in the 39th minute - meaning Woolfe switched to the right wing - but if anything it was Kidderminster who were threatening most in front of goal.
Louis hit the post for Wrexham in injury time after being played in by Marc Williams but it remained 1-0 at the break.
Carl Tremarco was sacrificed for Patrick Suffo on 63 minutes and within 60 seconds the striker brought an excellent save out of keeper Adam Bartlett after connecting with Mike Williams' pass.
At the other end, substitute Daryl Knights' shot was deflected wide for a corner, and the striker saw the same end result with another attempt on goal.
With time running out, Woolfe beat Lee Baker but his dangerous cross was cut out with Louis poised to shoot, and the on-loanwinger was not far away with his drive from the edge of the area.
Wes Baynes' low drive was turned around the post by Bartlett after latching onto Louis' free-kick with four minutes remaining, and the right-midfielder was not far away from the target from the resulting corner.
Wrexham could have snatched an equaliser in injury time but an unmarked Marc Williams failed to turn Woolfe's cross past Bartlett.
